Fuses keep blowing in bridge amp

The amps are kenwood 800watt. I can go look at them if you need more info than that, cause i'm not really sure. The subs are 2 15' technics, not sure other than that... they were given to me but they work fine. I don't know too much about stereos, but it seems to me this should be quite easy since my truck was already wired for subs.

were the amps in there when the subs were stolen? Did you check all your connections? If fuses are not in amp, the problem is shorting out (+) wire somewhere most likely. If the are in the amp, same thing, plus it could be internally a short.

Make of amp and subs, not a concern, lol.

that's what i thought about the make of the subs, he just asked me.

yes, the amps were in there when the subs got stolen. The fuses are in the amp. I checked the connections, and they all look good. Where could the short be? How do i figure out and fix? Thanks!

Well, I was wondering why they didn't take the amps? Did they try? Because if they pulled them somehow, I would imagine, they strecthed the wire, allowing it to rub or cut the wire somewhere or on something. It would be your red wire or (+) comming from your battery.I would look for any cuts along here where you would think it could rub against something.

If not, it could be just a bad amp. Was the amp working before the break-in? Sometimes its hard to hear, lol. Also, if somehow water has enter in it, that could be another cause. Or maybe somehow it could be the wiring of your subs *ohms*. not sure though.

Purpose of Fuses:

The purpose of a fuse is to open *blow* an electronic circuit when current flow exceeds a certain amount, determined by the rating of the fuse. Opening *blowing* a circuit under high current conditions can save electronic components from damaged and prevents overheating, which could cause a fire.

Hope that helps

If you disconnect the wires for the subs AT THE AMP, and turn it on, does the fuse still blow? If so, the problem is with the amp. If not, it's the wiring to the sub, or the sub itself.

Okay - for starters let's look at the specific gear you're running. You stated Technics subs. That I am aware of the Technics division of Panasonic (their parent company) doesn't make car audio gear. So you've got to be running a driver designed for home use in your ride. Not a completely awful idea ~ but it's driver-dependent.

So - we need to establish what the voice coil resistance is on them and then figure out to what final nominal load (if different than the previous value) you're presenting to the amp.

I'd also like to know what model Kenwood amp you're running and how the sub is wired to it, please.

Okay - 8 Ohm Technics woofers.

I'd still like to know what model Kenwood amp you're using to power them and how the whole affair is wired up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
