monte, not to jack the origional thread but... I am the one doing teaching the class with middle schoolers using the re's. If I can get a bunch (like 120, one for each of my students) thought it would be cool to box up. Anyway, at 8 ohm each how would it all get wired if possible and how in the world to amp this? The students want to then take all of this and make up a "competition vehicle" I would have a very small group of kids to work on this during the summer and actually try to compete with this. I am pretty good at grant writing and with this being a class project who knows. The problems that will arise would be huge but may be worth it in the end to get some of these kids interested in the electronics field. I know we would not win with the best spl but they would win by being given the opportunity.

It would be easier to wire up than you think. It would require a large combination of series and parrellel circuits. Actually rather quite simple once you understand how the resistance works with each circuit.

How about this. You get this all planed out and i will loan you some amps powerful enough to move those speakers. I think it would be cool to see a wall with like 100 4" speakers so i would be willing to give you a hand with it all.

just take 'em in sets of 4 or 8 and then wire each set as a single speaker, and continue until u have one speaker setup.
