i just bought a pcx4125 today based on your post of it saying pre-dei. it says made in korea though. oh well, it still looks GREAT inside. the board is very nicely laid out and i'm sure the pcx line does their rated power and then some.

not trying to jack your thread, so BUMP for some well made amps regardless of country of origin.

No need to put on a flame suit. You're completely correct. PCX amps are DEI amps. It looks great inside because they copied the layout of the PPI PC series amps before them. Beyond that everything changes. Cheaper boards, cheaper components, made in Korea, etc. Then DEI upped the power rating over the previous PC amps which wasn't a big deal because PPI under rated their amps to begin with. IIRC anytime you see the PPI lightning bolt symbol inside a circle you are looking at a DEI item not a true PPI item be it an amp, an eq, or a speaker.

I usually don't jump in on these kind of threads but I see more and more people selling PCX amps as "pre DEI" and it's just not true. DEI bought PPI during the last year of the PC.2 amplifiers and just kept building them until they ran out of boards. I spent a lot of time and money amassing my collection of true PPI PC amplifiers to have them devalued like that.

I'm not saying the OP did this intentionally either. Like I said, a lot of people seem to believe the PCX series are a true PPI amplifier.
