This amp is semi shorted, it still works but will go into thermal protection mode, it has yet to shut off on me. The external condition is excellent and does have the serial number.

JL quoted me a flat rate of $180.00 for repair. Also, they've made special arrangement for me to send it in directly (without a dealer). Let me know if you're interested, we'll work something out.

Ok, you say it'll go into thermal protection mode, but it has never shut off on you? Or by shutting off did you mean completely turning off? When will it go into protection mode? Right as you turn it on, after a little, etc.? More details will probably help save some time answer questions.

sorry, here are some more details

the output is reduced by at least 1/2 of the RMS rating, the amp gets a little warmer than usual too; this happens after an hour or two of usage, i didn't even realize this was happening until I saw the thermo light. anyway, the thermal mode comes on and off and I don't know why because i'm somewhat meticulous with the connections

again, it has never shut off on me, but to be safe, i stopped using it
