tell me about the new piece! i've wanted to get my hands one one.
It definitely has a lower noise floor. That is the biggest thing I noticed. The auto tune works a little better on the 800 than the 701 (but still nothing to write home about). And the display is a little smaller, so for some installs it might be easier to incorporate.

i'm not an auto-tune guy. is the zipper noise gone? i used to tune the 701 while driving - is it still that easy?

There is no noise at all that I can hear on the 800 (although I do not recall a zipper noise on my 701). I am not a fan of auto tune either. I just remember being grossly disappointed in the auto tune on the 701, so I tried it on the 800 just for comparison. It worked much better, but not nearly as good as tuning with an RTA. Control wise, it is very similar to the 701.
