my friend has already gone through 6 12" type r's and type s's so i dont know why he keeps buying them. btw it could also be he is running them on like 1100-1300w so that might be the problem .

No thats not the problem. People on this forum routinely run the R's with that much power with no problem. Sounds like your friend doesn't know what he's doing.
