Frontstage ftw

stick with the xxx's (remember that they are power hungry)

horns are going to play 1khz and above....the XXX lacks midrange, but the midbass is definitely there

I have owned the RE XXX mids and currently own the CH-1 Drivers

you will be happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

heck if you have that kind of room i would get another set of higher output mids use one pair of xxx (just as mid bass nothing more) and maybe cross over the horns slightly higher (1-1.2k). that way you know you have your basses covered.

what are the horns? are they like tweeters?
Sort of, but not really.

Horns are much larger, can typically play much lower and have much greater output than tweeters.

Only similarity tweeters and horns have is that they are both designed to cover the upper octaves.

and also, does anyone have a pic of horns installed?

http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com

Check out the galleries and tutorials on both pages.

where do they go?
Typically under the dash

and how big are they?
Big big. Full size horns are probably 9"+ deep, 2" or so high at the mouth, >12" wide, and the compression driver usually has a large diameter (3" and up)

I tell you what, this driver looks pretty interesting for use as a midbass with horns: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=294-679&ctab=2#Tabs

Good excursion (8mm Xmax), 96db @ 1w/1m, low inductance, flat response out past 1khz on the high side. Starts some low-end rolloff at ~150hz, but with cabin gain and a little EQ/enclosure work, you could probably get that down to ~60hz.

This one aswell: http://www.bcspeakers.com/index.php?sez=1&categoria=2&id_descrizione=44&prodotto=54&id_descrizione_prod=24
