From stock to Alpine HU...

With my stock Hu i had a lot of midbass... now i have none... is this because of the hu or do i have to do some adjusting?

its a 03 camry se v6 and the hu is a alpine 9833.

please help... i didnt spend 300 to get something that sounds worse than stock.

stock head units have an offset curve to makeup for crappy response. so you probably had really peaky bass with that stock head unit. aftermarket head units flatten that response curve. so you are essentially starting with "0" bass, trebel, etc. you can fine tune your head unit and you can get your peaky response back....or you can just buy some woofers and get some real bass.

you just need to set the eq to raise the response in that freq range.

You need to learn how to adjust the EQs in the headunit. Just about every person i've ever seen who bought the 9830 and above headunit, has no idea how to set the EQs up. Not saying that you don't or anything, but it isn't really an easy HU to use.

how about.....buy some 6w0's or koda 6's....

yeah just fiddle around with your Headunit for awhile, those alpines have tons of things you can do with them. Just by putting on your Media Xpander with that headunit will give you tons of bass again. So go to the EQ settings on that headunit and you'll be able to get it to where you want it

yeah after messing with the eqs it has gotten better... still have more to tune.
