from SPL to SQ.. good choice?

well, i have always wanted an award winning spl car..

well, for some reason today when i was driving, i realized..

my dd sounds rather sloppy..

and my car is rather an eye sore..

so something came upon me.. im going to SQ..

now, im not gonna be one of those SQheads that spend 85,000 on a system just to get 80 points from some jack hole judge..

no, i want it to be clear, and to be honest.. not too loud..

as of now i ride daily w/ my gains on 1/4th and the bass on my deck at -5

i was thinking of a single 10" diamond tdx in a 1.3 selaed powered by a 1200.1 at 2 ohms,

for speakers i was thinking 2 pairs of hex 6.5's, 4 ch undecided, but it will be a diamond..

deck is undecided but i was looking at some eclipse double din nav's

later just to see how i like it, im gonna throw the tdx in an IB.. just to take a looksie..

later it would be nice to compete in SQ, but the rules are so feirce..

all of this will be going in most likely a volvo or an audi..

i want a nwer s70, or A4..

but i may have to settle for an older 580 and murder it out =]

what do you guys think? SQ and a semi-showcar?

if you want SQ get a single Critical Mass UL12 for your sub bass and maybe some ultra clean TRU Technologies amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif for your subs and highs...

just a whole new project..

i was using a neon in the first place for an spl car (meh)

now im getting a volvo or an audio,, making it a semi-show car and doing SQ

im getting a black on black car, 18"black rims w/ 2" chrome lip, 5% all over, springs, headlights, taillights, system and thats it, some fiberglass and woodgrain, maybe some CF..

i wanted to go w/ the TDX cause i want it to sound good, but still get decently non-obnoxiusly loud

but the shop i work at does diamond, and i kinda wanted to represent my shop at shows at the same time as sounding and looking good

it was a pain in the ***...and new s40(05 and newer)have to be factory decks....unless you feel like doing major mods

and the s70 is a solid *** car

do you have access to an RTA? the SQ game is hardcore, them guys don't play around. Amp selection is very critical. I know your shop does Diamond stuff, but you have to decide whether you want to actually WIN SQ comps or just compete. i'm not knocking diamond products at all, just keep that in mind while you're being all loyal. I mean are they sponsoring you? Will your shop help you with the expenses of the project? if not use whatever gear you want. Just my 2 pennies

speaker locations will be more important than speakers them selves generally. as well as x/o points and a great processing unit and hu.

and tuning forever...... said like from the sand lot. ffffooooooreeeeveeerrrrrr

First decide if you want a comp SQ car or daily SQ......two very different things.

For daily I'd put in a nice front stage that can play down to 60Hz or so, that way you can cross the sub(s) lower, makes a huge difference.
