From NY down to Tampa

And by the way I'm kind of new into car systems so if you know any good audio places in the area that I could check out I would appreciate the heads up. Right now I learn most of my stuff from the guys at Auto Audio off US19, and am planning to get my install from them.

Lol hey thanks for the info man i might take you up on one of those offers since I have no idea what I'm doing over here. I'm actually going to work on building a sealed box tonight since Im not willing to pay $70 for one. I think I might stop by that A&B audio place when I'm not doing anything, especially since Auto Audio charges $65 for installation...and im running low on cash. But seriously it's good to see there are still people around willing to help others out and give advice around here.

Haha well I dont know too many girls from Tarpon but you're right about Eastlake I know a lot of girls from there... and almost too easy is right I stay away from them physically because I would feel really guilty about it. It's like... tricking your dog into walking into the pool. It's hilarious and all but come on.
haha can't feel guilty when you start college //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif but back on audio.. if you need any help let me know I'm usually down to help with an install.

Ha yeah that's true can't have regrets. And careful what you wish for because i definitely need some help on this install, at least with directions. The main problem I have is that the guys at my audio place said it isn't possible to replace my factory head unit (digital unit with am/fm radio and tape player on a 2000 mercury sable LS) even with a custom dash kit...something about the hookups. So i guess I have to find the right wiring harness for my factory unit. And I also want to hook up an ipod adapter or aux input to the factory unit... so confusing I'm in way over my head. I'm not even sure how to get this head unit out. No visible screws or anything.

Ill try to post some pics up tomorrow and you can see how huge it is. And trust me I would love to go 100% aftermarket but the installer i talked to said it cant be done... like the equipment needed isn't produced. I'm not saying it's impossible, but if i can try to get the harness off him for $30 or less i guess im alright doing that although i still dont know about the AUX input the tape adapter i have now pisses me off. Maybe i could just get one of those y cables, cut off the plugs and plug it into the back terminals, using solder if necessary.

Sounds like complete BS to me. If anything as a last resort you could do it like I did my Caddy. Used no harness, didn't cut stock harness. Ran my own constant, got a ACC wire from under the dash, ground, and spliced into the power ant. Ran new speakers wires and that's about it... not hard at all.

Lol I like your style. I finished my sealed box today and my amp is getting here wednesday so hopefully I'll have figured out how to pull the head unit by then. Problem is I haven't bought the wiring yet, so I'll be getting on that soon. I'll probably try to wire it all myself after everything gets here and end up screwing something up. But I'll look into that factory harness thing and if I can get it for like $25, I'll just keep the factory for now until I find a good head unit.
