you guys remember along *** time ago, when i was talkin about how he put duct tape over his subwoofers because they were cracked...well now he epoxied the hell out of them...i see more epoxy than i see subwoofer.i was riding in his truck the other day and i noticed that his amp was getting really ****ing hot, almost to the point that if i touched it my skin would blister (literally) and i looked at his power wire and that shit was 12gauge at the most. is this why his amp is hot?im just tryin to learn.

btw its a 600watt kenwood bridged powering 2 pioneer 12"...

Erm, well smaller wire won't make the amp run hot, unless maybe he has the gains cranked. He's really lucky the wire hasn't caught on fire yet because thats quite a bit of current for such a small wire.

don't know if that would make an amp run hot to that point that your saying but it isn't helping. if he has those subs run in paralell the amp is seing a 1 ohm load assuming they are 4ohm DVC and i am not sure if that amp is made to run that load or not but i bet that would make it prett freakin hot heeh

ps i use 12 awg to wire subs with as well

small wire will not cause the amp to run hot. The problem, judging from the way the guy treats his equipment, is that he has the gain cranked as well as the bass boosts, etc. The extra weight on the sub's cone would only heat up/damage the sub, not the amp.

his wire isnt great but itll work. i ran 1800watts on a stiff copper 8 guage and ran it thru the door of my s10 with electrical tape around a bald spot where it shorted against the door once before. did i mention i had no fuse and the ground wire was just screwed under a washer+bolt+nut in the bed of my truck w/o an eyehook?

...... for about 5 months

if he is running to single voicecoils and he bridged them, the amp is seeing 2 ohms, most likely the amp is not made to run less then 4 ohms, he will burn something up, and plus what does his ground look like?
