Friend dies at practice Yesterday

Will Orr.. My friend, co-worker, and former teammate dies yesterday.. He was practicing foootabll on the same field as my brother when he collapses and dies.. I found out when my boss calls me after work and says " I have some bad news and a Favor to ask." She starts off with tears in her voice and said Will Orr died today at football practice... I am in shock.. Then she asks me to fill in Thursday at work... Will's Brother in law is a Manager and needed to be with his family..

I just worked with him this weekend.. he was a 190lb 6ft tall Healthy kid.. and a blast to be around.. and good shape.. Im still in shock.. In fact in tearing up just writing this.. Pray for his family

DYER, Tenn. - A Gibson County High School football player who collapsed during practice has died, school officials said.

Will Orr was a junior on the team that was having its third practice of the year in full pads. He collapsed about 5 p.m. Wednesday, a half-hour into practice, and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he died.

"All the players were on a knee back away as the coaches were working on Will and trying to get him (revived)," said Mayor Scott Jewell, who was coaching the school's girls soccer team on the next field.

The cause of death was being investigated, but temperatures across West Tennessee were in the high 90s on Wednesday.

"The word is they can't really tell what happened to him without an autopsy," Jewell said. "They don't think it was a seizure or anything like that. They just really don't know. But like I heard one of the football players say, it could have been any of them. You just never know."

Funeral arrangements were pending.

WE BEGIN THIS MORNING WITH ANOTHER GIBSON COUNTY COMMUNITY MORNING THE DEATH OF A TEENAGER.

A HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR AT GIBSON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL DIES DURING FOOTBALL PRACTICE.

TEAMMATES SAY 16-YEAR-OLD WILL ORR OF DYER COLLAPSED DURING A WATER BREAK DURING PRACTICE ON WEDNESDAY.

COUNTY OFFCIALS SAY PARAMEDICS WERE GIVING ORR C-P-R ON THE FIELD AND WHILE HE WAS BEING TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSTIPAL.BUT THEIR EFFORTS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL.

Thanks fellaz.. Imma miss that dude.. he was a good guy ya know? always gave his best effort and was dependable.. we'd BS about cars and football and stuff at work.. he was 2 yrs younger than me and we played on the same team.. had the same shoulder injury at the same time.. so we got to know each other pretty well...

Hope you and his family are doing well. I can't imagine what it would be like to bury my own child. I've been in your shoes, hang in there and remember that the best thing you can possibly do for you, him, and his family is be an optimist. You can't change yesterday.

I'm pretty lucky that none of that happened to me during the years that Ive played football. I've always wondered how it happens to some and not others.
