Fresh paint, OK to wax??

Finally got my car back Saturday, the entire passenger side had some damage and had to be fixed/painted.

OK to wax? The guy at the body shop told my dad that paint has come a long way, and it should be fine waxing right away, but then again it wouldn't hurt to wait a couple weeks.

I have nothing else to do, and really want to wax that bish.

If you do wax, I'd put a pretty light coat on it the first time. My guy puts a very light coat of wax after he paints stuff

Alright, thanks for the advice. Like I said the front bumper, and entire passenger side of the car was repainted. I only planned on putting one coat on anyway, just good ol' turlewax. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'm tempted to put two light coats on the front bumper, because the bugs are so bad down here right now.

I would at least use a meguiars product. Putting wax on it is already cutting it close!

I would wait a week. And you should be good to go. Did they wetsand/buff/polish/wax it after they painted it?

They did a VERY good shop, I'm assuming they wetsanded it, because there is NO orange peel at all. It's already been 5 days, and the smell is gone, and it does feel like they might have put a very light coat of wax on it.

The whole idea is that the paint needs to further cure by "breathing" for the next couple of months after your paint job. Most people don't recommend waxing after painting but you can still do it. As long as you have a higher quality wax a lot of the times you can pull it off. Spend your money now so you can save it later.
