The Birds The Word!!!!!!!
What are some free air subwoofers that will work in a trunk environment. I just found my cls550 have a 12 inch sub in the rear deck that fires into the cab, and want to replace it with a free air subwoofer instead if having a heavy box in my trunk. Can someone explain how these subs work and how I could make this work in my car.

Ib install? Tell me more please. I don't need it competition loud, I just want enough bass. Right now I'm running 2 12 SAs at 1ohn with a MMATS m1400.1d. It sounds good but toooooo much rattle everywhere. The rear deck rattles but since stopped since I removed the rear factory sub. Also the heat sheilds in the rear bumper sound rediculus.I just feel I will never get the clarity I had in my old truck with this Mercedes.

So after searching for free air subwoofers, I'm finding that there isn't many. Can almost any sub be used and free air sub?

Any other brands that make a Ib sub? Who makes the loudest that I could run with my MMATS .
You're probably going to end up having to run it at 2-4 ohms, unless you can somehow fit 3 15's in your rear deck.

Dayton Audio also makes a sub for IB. I'd get a link, but Parts-Express is being a douche to me right now.

Here's Fi's IB sub: https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=154f7ea2e64d481/shopdata/0050_Speakers/0050_IB3/product_overview.shopscript

Like B n' R said, cone area is important with IB, and you have to be very careful with your power.

You could call dc and tell rusty what your wanting and I'm sure he could work up something there are a lot of options available just remember sub sonic is your friend with ib installs and please NO epicenter lol.

I've never heard a good sounding IB in my life. They sound ok, but still nothing like having a real box. Build a small sealed box and maybe try Kicker Solo Classics?
