Free Air Subwoofers? Please explain.

Further to this....what about a FI/IB sub in a small (.7 ft) sealed box. Would this sound better/worse/louder than a 'normal' sub meant to be in that same size box? Box would be placed in the vehicle compartment.

it would likely not take as much power thermally, so, much less output. large sealed/vented you could probably get some results out of, though, but an ib/fa sub is meant to be un-loaded by an enclosure.
