Ok, I have this design idea and I'm just curious that everyone has to say about it...

My design is basically a stable frame structure built out of a strong, rigid wood... held together w/ wood glue, nails/screws and wood and metal bracing. The sides, back and bottom will have boards of HDF sunk into them while the baffle (top) and front of the box will be sunk with 1" plexi. The HDF will be laminated or carpeted dark and the frame of the box will be covered with unique fiberglass designs painted to contrast the dark laminate. This enclosure will obviously be sealed up with lots of woodglue and silicon but I'm still unsure of how this box will perform structurally. Its alot of work and money to have it rattle itself apart lol. Does it sound/look doable?

Pretty much, yea... I just thought with the FG on the 'skeleton' it'd add some funky flair along with stability... plus, I wouldn't have to calculate bracing into the internal volume. Also, I guess I'm trying to ask if plexi is worth the $$$, weight and hassle

you will need atleast 3/4" plexi. if you want to be able to see inside then get it. if you dont care then dont. i would never use it because its expensive and i could careless about seeing the motors

Kool, thanx! Yea, normally I'm more into function than quality but this box is for a show truck so I wanted to do something a little wacky while maintaining quality... I have another question... You ever use HDF rather than MDF? You think it's just a gimmick or do you think it provides a better quality build? If it IS a better wood for box building, is it better than trupan?
