Fosgate 1500-1bd question

those are 3 ohm aint they???
im guessing he has 2 of them, i honestly dont know about the newer RF amps. I know someone local that tryed to run an 04 T10001BD at .5ohms and turned it into a paper weight in the first day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

why would impedance rise?
as you apply electircal power to a wire, the resistance changes.

Also depending on where your firing the sub, box size, and tuned freq all play a factor aswell.

Realisticly speaking that amp should live at .75 of an ohm but not much less. It might be best for you to contact RF and ask them. Also post in the RF forums about it.

If you dont own that amp already, id look at a refurbed Sundown SAZ1500

DBR has them for 350 i think, they can be ran at .5ohm all day from my understanding.

x2 on the Sundown run at lower than rated impedance. I have known several people who have run them at .5. As for the RF, I have never seen one run below rated impedance without freaking out, ******* power and going into protect mode. Great strong amps, as long as you do not try to get overly creative.

Technically the DC resistance would be closer to .6 ohms with both coils wired in parallel with a .75 ohm nominal impedance. If the amplifier has built-in protection circuitry to detect low ohms it could go into protect on power up.

Also, since this thread is old, I am curious as to what the OP ended up doing.

I've seen 2 of the rf t1500-1bd run for 6 hours at 1/2ohm full tilt. thermal protect for 5 minutes 3 times over that span.

Very power series RF amp I've personally used have been tanks and didn't mind abuse. I ran my 2channel t400-2 at 1ohm mono //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif
