Ok, I think I may have run into a problem. The computer we have never came with a windows CD, it just had XP installed on it. also, even if I had the CD, I dont have a key code.

am I screwed, or is there an easy way of making/ finding out this info

You need a copy of windows and then you need to find a copy of WPA kill to kill the activation. Yes your computer should have came with an OS cd unless you bought it used or something were it was at your own risk. If you bought it from a store contact them and see if they can't help you out in same form or manner.

You could always try downloading the OS but I wouldn't recommend doing that....god only knows what's hiding with an OS torrent these days.

I think this is all coming back to me now. We bought the computer from best buy 2 years ago like I said. one of the guys there said we needed to make a CD something like a driver/application CD. do you think thats what I need. I still dont think it came with a key code but I will look for it and the CDs in the morning.

almost 3 am here, time for bed. catch you all tomorrow. thanks for that link 2kchevy learning stuff very quickly.

I know what you mean. I know the things he says, but he gives more simpler descriptions. Also, Max_Power, you will need an install CD WITH a key code. Not all key codes will work with one CD. PM me.

I would go to best buy if you have the receipt and ask them to give you a cd with a key. If they can't help you just find a copy of XP SP2 and download WPA kill. I have a couple copies of XP but they won't work unless you have a way to kill the activation.

I have a copy of WinXP Pro SP2 that doesn't have any activation. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif It's some sort of Student version, and it's legit, I have a receipt somewhere.

I had a copy of windows xp but it was SP1 and it was givin to IT majors at my college. Stupid thing is you can't update after the semester is over so I never got SP2. It's worthless.
