ford wiring harness

I think I found the harness, since I dont have a radio in it now or even factory in my mustang. Well I had a clarion dvd player. I looked behind the dash and I found a empty harness ziptied its a little wide and its grey. How would I connect this to my aftermarket headunit? I thought they just clip in, The ending of the harness is not connected to anything. Are those wires before the harness suppose to be spliced and rewired to the HU harness?

you have a pic? on my escort, i have the factory harness then it's connected to my after market harness with the 8 speaker wires on one harness and the other leads on the other harness and you just wire the ends of those to the ends of the hu's wiring harness.

You know what I think, I think its the harness, cause I see ground on it and those wires. So basically I need a ford harness now from best buy or somewhere to connect the radio. If I buy a harness dont you plug it in that harness slot and then the other side is free of wires so you can connect those wires to the back of the HU harness wires that are free?

i had 2 ford harnesses i believe. but yes they clip right in and then you connect the wires up. my after market dash kit came with 2 wire harnesses for my 98 escort. idk about your car tho.

You need to find 2 plugs, roughly the same shape and size. The gray plug includes power and ground; the black plug has all your speaker outputs. If your Mustang was equipped with a Mach system, then the speaker outputs at the black plug are only connected to the factory tweeters, not the 6x8's.

So how do i connect all the speakers to the cd player? I found the gray one, where is the speaker one located?

What year is your Mustang? Most have the harness buried deep in the radio cavity; it may be attached to a plug. Usually there's a factory amplifier, then the speaker wires run back up behind the head unit, through the black plug and out to the speakers. If you find and disconnect the plug, you're automatically bypassing the factory amp. Dig around in the head unit cavity and you should find it. It's an 8-pin plug, roughly the same size and shape as the gray plug.

i dont know why people keep saying factory amp. My car is a 2000 and I had the mach 460, all of the amps and everything is out. I dont have any amps. Hmm where is the speaker wire plug.
