heres the downlow, igot 2 15 inch re sx's in a 8 cube box with a common divider and 2 20'' x 2 1/2'' by 11'' slot ports at the bottom,im running a autotek mx 5000 on the subs.anyway ive tried tuning the box at 50 hz but it still hits better at 41 hz,so i cut 1 inch off the slot ports, then it still it around 41 hz but just lost a db,so i tried to tune it to where it seemed to be hittin the best (41 hz),then it started hittin at 38 hz better.anyway my question is how many of yall have experienced a similar situation,my box fires back, and so do the slot ports.i was thinking if i could get it resonating around 50hz i might do better on the meter(or not).any help is useful.

not till i got my 10s did i try tunning to make it peak at different places.

but my 10s are loudest at 48 hertz.

41 hertz seems low but if your going all out spl cut and inch another inch another inch till the ***** gains.

ive never heard of an explorer peaking that low (4door?) have heard anywhere from 47-53 hertz. and if the ports just gets to short probably gonna need a smaller box. or less port area

my mountaineer peaks at 46z the newer explorers (02+) peak lower than the first and second gen.
have you tried tunning at say 45 hertz testing then 47 hertz testing and 48 hertz and testing?

i know even if its the same car and model they peak a little different but my truck gains .8 from 50 hertz to 48 hertz. example if i make it so it peaks at 50 hertz say i do a 148.9 but if i make it peak at 48 hertz it will usualy gain .8 over the 148.9 my truck is very picky..

yea its a 4 door,do you possibly think the box would do better with no divider and 1 single port, and maybe not 8 cube, but maybe around 7 cube
if you want all out spl i would say closer to 6 cubes and yah one single port

but ive never done extensive testing with the sx's only played with my freinds 12s with one box thats it. i can try and help more in depth but im not sure if it will work for you. spl is more like trial and error. sometimes it works most of the time it doesnt LMAO

In my experience, port back-firing and subs top-firing works the best. But it looks like that would mean you would have to bulid another box.
actually yah for 15s thats true or say a dbdrag street c setup but for b and a theirs others that work better but since he has 15"s definatly i would try subs up ports back 147 aint to bad

well i appricate all the info, this is wat a thread is suppossed to be.helpful,i guess i will build me a different box, subs firing up,ports in the back, about 6 cubes.thanx

Subs up, port back firing, sorry no good shots of the port, but y'all know what ports look like.

dam everytime i look at allstar1500 truck i kick myself for not going 22"s lol

/of topic

a couple of tips for the poster

1.usually siting on the roof (non sun roof models) gains from .3-.8 in the front like by the windshield not the rear!

2.both seats all the way up and straight

3.passenger visor both small and little straight down

4.driver visor i get the same result with it like above or without touchign it

5.center console open
