The original question was what is your favorite COMPANY. Not who builds the fastest exotic. Every company's exotic is fast, but who really cares? I was hoping this would become a decent debate, but it's turned into bashing and "Yeah, but a viper can beat a vette!!"

Yee-fuggin-haw.

on top of that they are offering twin turbo V12's on the S600 and CL600 with over 500 hp, just sickening, fast as hell and reliable as all get out

Originally posted by saltyjesus LMAO!!! Fords are for poor people. A used Ford is a poor man's best friend. The resale drops like 80% after a year. But I guess they have their uses. I think a ford, chevy, or dodge is great up until a 100000 miles, then they fall apart. Ford just cant make transmissions at all and after 100k you get use to fixin the p.o.s. every **** weekend.

Hondas and Toyota are the most practical cars to buy on the market. They are reliable and not much more expensive than a Ford or Chevy or Hundai.

If you want luxury I am going to have to stick with Lexus and Acura.

BOTTOM LINE: Japanese Imports are your best value by far

How many people are willing to buy a ford with 150 000 miles

how man people are willing to buy a honda with 150 000 miles

american engineers **** at making cars...period.
-----------------------------------------------------

I could'nt agree with you more american car companies been shoveling $hit for to long!Take my parents for instance they are die hard apple pie americans that will buy nothing but caddy my moms is on her second Escalade and it too is plagued with probs. My pops sts been in the shop a bunch of times and I just laugh, never had an american car never will!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

LMAO!!!price point,technology,Ford-No fuccin way, they are the mass because they are priced way lower generally due to the fact most of their cars are based on the same chasis,explorer-ranger-sport track,excursion-f250,and so on that saves the company a ton of money so they can turn around and flood the market with crap.Just take a look at any resale value on any ford and you'll see. They sell so well because they are affordable to the mass market but that is what hurts the resale in the long run.**** my mothers Escalade was almost as much as my Boxster and its been in the shop already 5 times, what ford is over 60k?

Well I'm sorry your mom bought something from generic motors. It's not the cost that matters. As you can tell. Your mom blew 60k or so on an excalade when she could have spent 35k on an excursion and no shop bills. Ford has way more technology going then GM. The corvette and camaro motor are the same basic design they used when they first came out. OHV Ford uses SOHC and DOHC in all of there vehicles now. We have a DOHC tuarus wagon that gets 30mpg on the road and has 150,000 miles on it and the only thing we've replaced are brakes, oil, ****** fluid, air cleaner, windshield wipers. I know of many other Fords that are the same way. I also know alot of GM's that are the same way. My dad has a 1979 F100 302 with near 400,000 miles on the truck. Yeah we've had to change the motor in it but the truck still has 400,000 miles on it. One of my buddys has a ranger nearing 250,000 miles on the stock motor, but he drives like a granny.

Bottom line is ANY vehicle will easily surpass 100,000 miles with proper care. Driving like granny instead of driving like your on a drag strip makes a huge difference. You can kill a motor in 30,000 miles if you don't change the oil in it. I always change the oil myself or watch the person chaniging the oil to make sure the oil filter is replaced to. There's not an engine in this world that will last long if you don't change the oil and oil filter.

pushrod V-10.. that's so 00ld school. it is their only good motor out there. the 5.7 that they have puts out less than the 4.6 in the mustangs, it's a dog.

DODGE=DOG.

The only good "chrysler" product is Jeep, and that is because they are not closely affiliated with chrysler. they make most of their own things. The only exception to that would be the new craphole liberty.

dodge got "lucky" with their V-10. you can't really go wrong with a huge as s v-10, with no tech. at all, but it shows no ingenuity on their part.

I may not know as much about stereo's as some of the Xperts on this forum. but i sure could take you to school on cars. I've been a car buff since i could read.

The new Z06 has 405 hp and like 405 ft. lbs. of torque. put all that into a light *** car and you have serious performance capabilities. maybe the base model has 330 hp, but i think that was stepped up for this year too.
have u seen dodge's new hemi? for old-school, it'll kick as$!

for the most part gm leads the way in technologies introduced...

the lightning is fast, will be second fastest truck when the srt/10 dodge comes out...

excursions fool-proof? try telling that to my employer..his has been in the shop more then on the road..

his new h/o cummins powered ram rocks!!

and it's a hell of alot more impressive that chevy can stomp a ford with "old-school" technology...keeps with other cars 3X(and more) it's price and yes anyone can buy one.

ford looks better then chevy? say no to crack!!

700hpF100 is right about one thing...they ALL make lemon's..it's how u take care of it that will determine the end result...unless it's a toyota..them sumb!tchs seem to be bullet proof!

Why are you all being so elementary about this? Can you not recognize that every company builds a lemon now and then?

I used to hate fords. Then I drove one -- I started to learn about it, strenghts and weakensses. I did some pretty extensive mods to it and now it has almost 200k on it and is running better than it ever has and is putting out more power than it ever has by far.

I used to like chevy and most imports, and I still do. But the simple fact is every company builds winners and every company builds losers. It's just the way mass production goes.

With technology coming as far as it has and dimensional metrology being so easily monitored these days I think a car should outlast its owner whether it be a GM, ford, dodge, saturn, or hyundai (sp?) However, when you consider human error in the manufacturing process and owners who don't service thier car responsibly there are naturally going to be problems. Regardless of the make of the car.

As far as ford being a "poor man's car". I don't know how you can say that. In the mainstream each company builds a car for a specific market. The price HAS to be competitive or it simply won't sell. New car prices in a given class are within what -- 5-10% of each other?

And in the performance market. You can build a 500hp chevy 350 for say $1500. The same power from a ford 351 would probably cost you twice that. Ford racing parts are more expensive than chevy, that's a known fact.

finally someone realized that all companies have a few lemons.......just cause your car broke down doesn't mean mine will.....my buddies 2001 neon blew a head gasket at 8000 km's my 2001 has 45000 and guess what it hasn't given me a **** problem....

I don't know how all these people just take any japanese car over a domestic just because... I'm getting a ford probe gt soon and its a nice car, I would rather buy that than get a free civic or corolla... Any maker has lemons like the other guy said, and any car will last a long time if properly maintained. And for people who bash american companies for "bad engineering" because they aren't "efficient" with their engines... why waste millions on R&D when you can jack up the displacement and get the same result with more torque? And then you get a car that costs thousands less than a "superior" import that probably rolls off a factory in the states anyway. I'm not saying I don't like foreigns, just that the difference isn't all that huge.
