For those who use Hifonics amps.

Yea this one has done great and I used to have a bx1000d about 4 years ago and it never died, in fact I sold it to a friend who sold it again and its still going to this day at 1 ohm, hence why I like Hifonics...no bad luck so far, as for the newer 08 stuff....eh..I would be weary.

Again I want to apologize for making myself sound like an idiot in my first post by not proofreading it, truth is I type about 80 words a minute and when you type that fast its hard to catch all your mistakes.

Yea mine never got warm but then again I never reached full output power at 1 ohm which also helped me decide to switch to 2 ohms instead, and im fully confident that this thing could do rated power at least seeing as how I was getting a consistent 60 volts rms wired this way just before noticeable clipping distortion.

The older model (1606d and before) were more current hungry. They had 80 x 2 fuse on it. Newest model (1608d) only got 2x 70 amp but seems to do a little more power from what i've heard around here. They found a way to make them more efficient over the year.

My friend got a clarion amp, does about the same rated power @ 1 ohm and he's got to put a 200a fuse on it. Talk innefficiency

i have the hifonics bx2005d and i have it set at 1ohms and it runs greats never had any problems with it and the amp never gets hot either maybe you need a better chargieng system

lol ok here ya go the cliffs...

1 ohm 1100 watts drains charging system to 12v or less - 2 ohms 1200 watts, able to maintain 13.8 input voltage.

Moral of the story - My BX2005D is much more efficient at 2 ohms at the exact same wattage output into 1 ohm.

This thread was merely dedicated to somewhat document my findings and inform the world per say.

Fail on you.

Proofreading is one thing

False Claims and accusations of your single time horrible experiment/situation is another.

Your electrical blows, HARD. And you're saying an amp that is meant to do optimum power output is doing more at a higher resistance level is recidivous. I suggest you get up to par w/ your electrical upgrades.

Believe who you will. In MY instance however what I claimed is true. And FTR there isnt a HO alternator made for my vehicle before anyone else suggests that.

EDIT - Wattage figures were calculated using the measured DCR at the amplifier terminals prior to testing and during testing volume levels were kept to just below noticeable distortion levels and DO NOT take into account impedence as seen by the amplifier. This is in no way scientific findings just simple pencil/paper and a true RMS meter.

you're using 4 gauge on top of all this?

fvcking idiot. The most you're going to pull before overheating/too much resistance/bad voltage drop is around 130 amps...probably less, with high efficiency you may get 1200 watts out of that...and most amps are NOT highly efficient at 1 ohm...
