For those who say Sony amps ****?

A friend of mine has a 1000 watt amp in his blazer hooked to to his 2 12" subs.. They arent sony subs.. But that thing is pretty **** loud. I dont know why everyone says they ****? His system actually sounds louder than mine. Both are sealed..

Pretty **** lound means nothing on the internet. A photograph of a DB reading is another thing.

My friend had a Sony amp, and it sucked. He sold it withing weeks after getting it.

IIRC sony doesnt make a 1000w RMS amp

i can get a "2kw" pyle and be loud.

I'm pushing a legit 360rms per sub from my amp.. The only thing i can think of is that his box is bigger and there is more airspace in his blazer?

Sony amps **** period. Especially if they are xplods, because they do tend to EXPLODE.

thats true also. ususally bigger box = louder and systems like to get loud in SUV's

and it doesnt take that much to get loud in an SUV...my brother had a 10inch sub in his and it was louder than most single 12s i've heard in cars lol

The only thing I've seen that's over-rated on a sony amp is the max power number on the chassis - which anyone who's 1/2 educated knows to ignore. The boards in the cheap ones are always bugg-ugly, but every bench test I've seen on a sony amp has them making their rated power at 14v.

The only legitimate knock on Sony amps I've seen is a lot of people saying they don't last.
