Update:

The surgery today went very well!! We're still concerned about bleeding due to the blood-thining agents she has to take, but the surgery is over and no complications (which is extremely rare due to her many health issues).

What kind of dialysis is she on? What problems are they going to fix?

She is on hemo, but has done them all. Nothing works like a real kidney so she's in pretty bad shape. She had a transplant around 15 years ago that rejected quickly.

Today's surgery was to fix up a major opening in her paratenium (sp), which is basically a massive hernia. They were also going to see about removing her gall bladder, which has problems, but they didn't end up doing that today due to added risk. They'll do that and 1 more surgery throughout the next half year.
