No, as long as it successfully uninstalled, you should be okay. The real problem is when something unexpected happens and you can't boot into the OS.

For partitioning a new drive, just use the OS partitioner... If you already have data on the drive and don't want to lose it, I suggest Partition Magic - also on the tool kit cd.
