I'm offering up a couple of my beloved Sonys for someone else to enjoy. I don't have an immediate need for these and I've just been keeping them around as part of a small collection so let's see if anyone can put these to use.
Let me start by dismissing any notion that these are junk. These are quality Japan made gain blocks that weigh 11lbs each. There are no built in filters of any kind. The only adjustment to be made is the input sensitivity. The power supply board is separate from the amplifier board within the unit. This is usually done to aid in noise reduction in the amplifier circuit. The power supply is stout and the output devices are large.
Rated power is 55 x 4 @ 4ohms 12v but those of you who understand that RMS is an irrelevant figure when it comes to music will appreciate the fuse rating of 60amps. Factoring in a 13.8v input voltage and a 60% efficiency shows that total power delivery will be in the neighborhood of 500 watts. THD is .005% A weighted, .08% at rated power. Nice clean A/B power.
Each can be configured for 4/3/2 channel operation. The fact that there are no filters mandates that you have an active head unit or an external crossover of some type. Between the two amplifiers you would have extreme flexibility for channel assignment. They are begging to be used in a 6/8 channel dual mono setup.
Both are in excellent condition with one having some light markings. I would rate the better one at 9.5/10 and the marked one at 8/10 cosmetically. Both are 10/10 for functionality. Dimensions are 14.25" x 9.5" x 2.25".
Asking $175 shipped for the near mint amplifier.
Asking $150 shipped for the marked amplifier.
Asking $300 shipped for the pair.
Thanks for looking guys.
