For the money will anything beat the boston pro6.53??

Ok so im looking into replacing the door speakers in my 06 bmw 325i and my local dealer recomeneded these. This is a 3 way system so im not sure where the mid woofer should go.

Basically i just want to know if this is the best 3 way setup for 1000.00$ or under??

I don't know what all is better out there because I haven't looked into 3 ways, but I can give you a few brands to get reviews of.

The bostons are some very nice speakers, I heard them when they first came out in the mid 90's, and I had bought a set 2 months ago to a/b against my Diamond d971. They sounded great, but not good enough for me to justify doing a total rebuild to fit them. I sold them for 350, they were still BNIB. I am surprised your dealer has any of these new, as they are about 15 year old speakers. I will give you some advice: When buying any component speakers, and if you are concerned with the sq of them, I would highly recommend auditioning them yourself, especially in your case, because of the money involved. I happen to love the boston sound, so I can recommend them, but you may not.

What are some of the 3 way systems that i should be looking at that compare to the bostons for the price?

I did audition the bostons but i cant really get a good sence of how they sound because they are not in my car.

Look at the dynaudio system 362, there is also a focal 3 way in that price range. I would expect that that the systems will sound totally different from each other, so you should be able to find your taste among those three, I would think. As far as auditioning in a car, that may be hard to get, because not all dealers will have a demo install. Best bet would be to go to an SQ competition in your area, If you're lucky, you'll be able to hear all three, and many more. Next best would be to listen on the soundboard, although that will not be a good representation of in car response. If you have to do soundboard auditions, do a lot of off axis listening, That will better represent your in-car environment
