seriously people he is right. The wheels have nothing to do with the plane.
The engines on a plane push the air behind it, not the ground. Ground speed dosent matter.
In a perfect world, imagine that the wheels dont have any friction. In that case, the fact that the ground was moving would have 0 effect on the plane. Add in friction from the wheels, you get drag, but because the engines on a plane are so powerfull it wont make any difference.
i dont see any other way of explaining this. The wheels dont matter. The plane flys by pushing the AIR behind it. Whats its wheels are doing dont matter. Its not like a car that needs to push off of thr ground to maintain velocity. The plane pushes off of the air around it to keep up to speed, whether on the ground or in the air.
STOP ALL THIS MADNESS
i brought this up in physics today and 2 professors agreed with what i have said.
If the plane was stationary it wouldnt fly, but the fact is, it wouldnt remain stationary. I think thats whats confising people. NO one claimed that the plain would like levitate off of the runway anf fly off. Its the fact that once the plane turns up its engines, it will over come the drag caused by the friction of the wheels and take off.
