Focal Vs. Crystal

hey guys.. i've been putting a lot of thought to these 2 component sets to put in my '95 eclipse. its either the Focal Polykevlar 165 K2 or the Crystal CSc 60s. i'm kinda torn between the 2. i havent really got the chance to test out the Crystals. but i did listen to the Focals and found that the tweeters a kind of a tad high but nothing i cant live with. any suggestions? and another thing... any recommendations to go with the back speakers? they are 6x9s. thanx.

i'd take the polykevlar over the crystal. when the mids are mounted in the right area and imaging is perfect, all you can say is ****! if the tweeter is too bright, point the tweeters towards another location to make it less harsh. or you can just buy the component set and put in CDT audio tweeters (which are VERY nice)

I think the crystals are great for the money, but hte focals are very nice though

For Focal the tweeter mellows after a bit of use untill then attenuate them via the deck or use an EQ.. They are worth every penny.

im really takin this into consideration. as the crystals are about half the price of the Focals... and they have those silk tweeters which are not as sharp as the focals rite? hhrrmmm.

do you have a set of Focals? I believe whwat your saying it just seems like every set that I have heard the tweets are piecering, even with them defeated some, I think the highs are a little to sharp for my taste, but they did not seem as harsh as my set or any of my friends MB Quarts, need less to say I am not using MB's anymore

you could always get one set and if you dont link them quickly return them and get the other, like renting them I have a buddy that does it all the time

denim, i have thought bout that... but i cant find them anywhere here. i will have to get them online and its a bit of a hassle to return them as most ppl wont take them back right? the Focals are a bit piercing. how come everyone's been reviewing on the Focals but none on the Crystals?? do give me sometin on them?? i found one on the ebay selling for $140.

I demo'd some in a guys truck and they didn't the least bit harsh to me.. I like bright anyway, but They blended well.. better than Quarts ever did. In a pickup in the door with 150 watts per side off a PG Titanium amp. He either had them for a while or he had used something else to attenuate them other than the crossover. That said the Utopias are made the same way and they also blended well without the harshness and they were not attenuated at all.. Ok I am done ranting. Go to the Focal USA site and it can find the nearest dealer for you if you wanna persue (sp?) this. I Have heard a ton of speakers Focal is my Fav. If you don't like them no problem. I just know I was really unhappy with the Crystals my buddy bought.

how bad did the crystals sound??? err... i know this is kinda hard.. describe them to me.. maybe u can compare them with the focals??? or well, recommend me sometin else other than focals... that are close to them. coz i just realise how much im gonna spend on them... gona spend the rest of the months eatin bread at home..

To me they sounded flat.. like leaving bass mid and treble controls @ zero..Kinda tinny with more of a hiss on a cymbal than what it should sound like.

you really need to go and listen to these speakers yourself, if possible, its too subjective to just go, oh yeah, mb's are way too harsh, but to someone else they might be perfect.
