Focal & JL Sound System.

i always have trouble explaining to people why JL isn't all that great so if you want JL man, that's your call.

But make sure you get some deadening though. Otherwise your reardeck will rattle like no other. the door panels, etc.

SecondSkin Damplifier is a good start, or Raammat. Whichever is cheaper for you

I agree with James Bang. If this is your first system, you are likely to butcher the install and get very average sound from a very expensive system.

Spend less money on equipment, and more money on the install. Learn how to treat your doors, read up on electrical systems, possibly try an active setup with DIY drivers (which are vastly cheaper), learn enclosure design. You're going to be thrilled with your first setup regardless, so you might as well learn how to do it right with average equipment now so you know how to use the high-end gear later //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

A lot of high-end gear uses very average equipment. Do you think a pair of $2,000 B&W tower speakers have more than $200-300 worth of parts in them? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Jl isn't all that great? the w6 isn't a great sub? w7? their amps aren't nice?

For the price of jl products, you can do better. but to say JL isn't good stuff is a reach..

also, if installed right, that would be a nice sounding system

Hey guys, considering what you guys said about installation. That won’t be a problem, because I’m going to have it done in a specialized shop that my friend owns near my University. It’s one of the best in Brazil, and he will do it all for me including my trunk customization, but i will try to get involved as much as possible to gain some knowledge //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

And about cable quality, it’s going to be all Monster Cable, so I’m not saving money on the installation components. Because I'm aware that installation components and they way its installed plays a vital part on the overall performance.

Are Focal Amplifiers and Subwoofers any good comparing to the JL amps and subs?

Cheers!

Let's say I’m probably going to have this car, for all university, so that means 5 years. I want to invest on audio for it, once, so I want a very good set straight away. I wouldn't like to buy average system, to have to swap them later on. And I'm very fussy when it comes to music, since I listen to it a lot.
Also I'm going to be modifying my car trunk, and I also would only like to do it once //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
All this means is that you'll have your CAR for 5 years of college..... the system will likely be stolen on campus 3 times.

Mate, this isn't the point on which i created this topic. If its going to be stolen or not, that doesn't matter. I created it to see your guys opinion on the system i had in mind.

their amps aren't nice, current hogs. All you get for the extra money are a bunch of equalizers that you can get in a decent headunit.

Monster Cable sucks ***, don't use them. Look into Kicker cable or the Knukonceptz fleks cable. Focal amps are probably about just as overpriced as JL amps tbh. I'm just one of those people who thinks an amp is only there to supply power and if it does rated power and is of good quality, then you're good.

I'd look into the MB Quart amp since i've heard good things about those, and for the price, they're hard to beat. You can also look into sundown, the forum boner. There are too many brands to recommend and it's best to just do your research.

go with what you planned its a good setup and will sound great.. people get a little butt hurt when you mention brands they can't afford and don't buy from the classifieds which 10% or more times people get scammed and there are no warranties.. more the new people than anyone..

that whole paragraph is an opinion and very skewed.. rated power and quality parts don't make a good amp.. they are part of it but not IT.. monster cable is fine.. why do you think its in high end home audio.. its not the best wire for amp power but it will work just fine.. mbquartz dcs series amps are good power for the money but put aren't the best in music quality..

and that is also a matter of opinion. For myself good quality and power is what I look for in an amp, you might be looking at something else. You seem to think that amps play a part in music quality, i really don't, so that's where the opinions differ. Monster cable is in high end home audio, and people think Bose makes the best home theater speakers ever. It's just a matter of opinions any way you slice it, there is no best. That's what the thread is for, for me to offer my opinion.

that is a fact..

I look for low distortion, high dampening.. amp do play a part of music as the convert the incoming signal and power into watts to send to the speakers.. if they are piss poor then they will do that job piss poor..

and I don't think I have ever meet anyone who said bose is the best home theater speakers

then i guess you haven't met enough people.

my point is simply that just because it's in high end audio doesn't mean it's good. Sony makes some decent home audio products, does that mean their car audio products are good also?

Just talking strictly about the xplod line of course.

Op, That setup would be very nice.

He's talking about 2 amps that will both do

There are questions of durability,

Signal processing,

THD,

Signal to noise ratios,

Efficiency.

And if you go with slash amps a very handy RIPS system.

Op, don't let this forum fool you. Any one in their right mind would put JL in the top 10 best of major audio electronics manufacturer. And focal's speakers are probably in the top 5.

That said, The best equiptment in a shit install is a shit setup. Having good equipment will not gurantee a nice setup. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

yes yes i understand all that shit, but do you think I would recommend the OP to go out and buy a Cuspid amp? With the amp technology nowadays all those THD and Signal to noise ratios all fall into the range that is indistinguishable by normal human hearing. But let's not get into a bitch fight about that since i'm tired of it and it's just the same arguments over and over again.
