Focal & JL Sound System.

Hey everyone from Caraudio Forums.

I recently turned 18, and I just got my first car. And of course the first upgrade I'm going to make on the car, is the Audio System.

Since my understanding of this subject, is quite limited, I set up a Focal & JL system, and I wanted to see what you guys think. And if everything you work well.

So heres the system i came up with:

Reciever: Kenwood DDX814

I realy wanted top end equipment, thats why I chose Focal and JL Audio, because as far as I know, they are the leading brands for Car Audio.

If you guys could check if I’m going in the right direction, and have everything I will need to have a top end Sound system, I would be very grateful. And I'm open for suggestions.

As I said, I am new to this area. So what would be the brands you would advice? Considering I want top end components, Morel?

the search option would be a good tool. JL amps are nice amps, but amps are amps to me. As long as they make their rated power and are reliable doing it, it doesn't matter much after that.

zed are very nice amps. They're high end amps without the cost. OP, you can probably pick up a Leviathan from Zed and save yourself some money. Or you can save yourself even more money by looking around the classifieds.

Let's say I’m probably going to have this car, for all university, so that means 5 years. I want to invest on audio for it, once, so I want a very good set straight away. I wouldn't like to buy average system, to have to swap them later on. And I'm very fussy when it comes to music, since I listen to it a lot.

Also I'm going to be modifying my car trunk, and I also would only like to do it once //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Overall, I would just to like your guys opinion on the Set. If its all compatible and good quality components.

most likely you'll end up changing the system again...trust me

What do you advise then? Go with this kit or make any changes to it?

before making any recommendations i'd have to know what you even like. The main problem with people starting out with a system is that they always think they want something but then end up wanting something else. If I ask a guy who have never had a system what he wants out of his system, nine out of ten will say "i want something that sounds nice and hits hard". 2 months after having a system, half of them would have changed their mind about what they want in a system.

With that being said the only problem I have with that setup right now are the amps just because to me JL amps are overpriced. Their subs are good though.

Would you recommend any amplifier brands in particular? Maybe Focal? And what do you think about Focal speakers?

I am a very eclectic person, in terms of music. I listen to Pop/Rap/House all the way to Oasis.

And my main aim for the sound system, is to be all internal, I’m never going to open up my trunk and expect to hear music from outside of the car. And i also want to use as less space as I could (But that all comes down to the way I’m doing my trunk, has nothing to do with these Components)

its pretty hard to recommend a certain brand when i dont know exactly what you want. Im not sure how much power you are wanting to run but look into sundown amps. you can find some good deals on the classifieds here for a sundown amp. as far as subs and comps go im not really too knowledgeable in that area because i dont really care about sq.
