Im building my new box with a 10 inch sonotube piece the problem is

1. the sonotube will be mounted vertically because its port up.How do i get it to stay in there?

2. I dont have a flare, is it really needed?

Also do i need to resin the port? i hear i need to peel the wax off and resin the whole port for extra support, this thing is mounted vertically. Do i buy a metal flare and attatch it to the sonotube and then i can bolt the flare into the box? Im looking for ideas on how to get past this

This is the box design

You don't have to have a flare, but they do offer some performance benefits. You can also do a slot port and roundover the edges if you wish.

As far as finding a 10" flare you can always try Boomsday I'm pretty sure he had some at one point that were very reasonably priced imo and he's a solid guy to deal with.

wrapping the port with resin and glass is something i like to do for peace of mind. i personally dont mind spending an extra 20 bucks to reinforce the enclosure. its very important in even aspect that you minimize any leaks and flexing.

ad for a mounting bracket Id cut out a peace of woof to fit snug around the sono tube (larger than the tube so you can use it to mount down) and glue and drill the sono tube and port together(some long 3" screws pre-drilled will work ) then wrap it with some fiber glass cloth and do a layer of two to bond them as one peace. you can come back sand the bottom smooth put some silicon to seal it to the box then just drill the sono-tube with the faceplate directly into the enclosure.

as far as bracing the sonotube at the bottom. cut you a peace of woods out the with a ID of that of the sono tube and as wide as the box making it narrower as it gets wide. screw it n place apply glue to the sono tube and to the "brace" and slid it in place..
