First time buyer, what to look for????

I'm looking to buy my wife a radar detector. She drives an '04 VW R32, and could use one, lol. I'm not looking to spend a tone of money, but something good on a budget. Something in the $150-$200 if possible??? Again I know nothing about these so any help would be great, thx.
