* ah yes * Indeed, I am the cliche'... "30-something". Admittedly, I've been out of the car audio scene for a while, so I'm just catching up to what's going on these days, but it's not much different except probably for extremely high power being more common, and several really good companies from back in the day becoming "not good" plus a handful of new companies that are really looking decent. I started out in the car audio scene in 86 or 87 and got pretty serious about it.
Johnecon2001, one of the reasons I'm leaning away from doing the $400 alternator upgrade is because I really am not attached to my "family car" SUV and would like to return it to OEM and sell it to get a BMW 3 or STi or other fun vehicle some time before I can't get it up anymore *heh*. I'm trying to make it work with a couple caps in there... to smooth off the peaks of power consumption from the charging system. I completely agree that alternator is the way to go, before ever considering dropping bux on caps that can easily go to most of the cost of the alternator in the first place. I have not yet added a chassis to engine block run. Please give me your thoughts on the benefit of doing that last one?
Thanks!
Catch you later...
