First ported box

I don't need one of these
I'm thinking about doing my first ported box to get a little more output for the TC2+ that's on the way since I'm stepping down from two 15" IDW's. I just have a few questions

In WINisd what tuning should I use (quasi butterworth?)

Is lower tuning always better

What should the graph look like in winISD... in fact the sealed graph looks funny compared to all my previous subs

Anyone have some really comprehensive tutorials bookmarked?

you can use any of the winISD alignments. if you dont know how to do it your self. wich is the same thing you would be doing by changing the tuning and volume of he enclosure. i would change them around to get something closer to what youre looking for. remember the values given by winISD are not for an enclosure that is in side the vehicle, meaning it does not take account of cabin gain wich is very difficult to guess since the program does not know the cabin size of the vehicle is going in, or the peak resonant frequency of your vehicle, to help you build a box that will sound as good as you want inside the vehicle. ether way BBP6 thoes not do that either.

but it gives you a close reseblance of the subwoofer performance in the specified enclosure out in the open. so you, your self have to do some research of what kind of alingment would sound better in your vehicle. some vehicles boost lower frequencyes up to a +12db some do way less and some actualy attenuate the low freqs. so is to you to find out what your vehicle does with low freqs and align using that knowledge. your best bet on how to use winISD is to read the help manual that it comes with and go to the winISD help forum to get the best help using winISD. and like here use the search button, maybe your question has been answered before.

thanks for the input... and yah I know it's probably been answered but after 2k posts I'm getting lazy.... sigh... off to the search function

You should tune the box to where ever the curve is the most like what you are trying to accomplish. SQ ultra flat, SPL peaked. Also remember, to factor in port displacement into the CUFT of the box. Otherwise your tunning will be a bit off, but nothing is perfect...

i have my idq in a ported box tuned to 28. i like the sq, but sometimes wish that i did a lil higher tuning
All of my previous subs have lived in sealed enclosures so if I get a little extra output even with very low tuning I'll be ok..

I'm looking for SQ, with a little more output than your average sealed box...

Well then you should tune it low but not to something retarted like 10Hz, more like something in the 25-35 range depending on the ft^3 of the box.
ok I'll play around with BB6P... I could use some of moe's plans too but I want to understand why I'm using them, and not just use one.
