First poast to #1000 gets.....

My introduction into electronica was probably Jam & Spoon and KLF. I thought it all was kind of gay until a friend of mine told me how to listen to it. He said "just listen how the music builds on itself instead of just listening to the song". After that I was hooked.

Do they even have raves anymore?

1. tech house is a genre, you just said it yourself. that was my point.
2. that site isn't a 100% but its not far off.

3. I've only been around the old "scene" since 93' before it went to the clubs in 99' so I didn't experience the birth of house music but for someone who spun house music for 10+ years and is an accomplished promoter I did experience a bit of the evolution.

4. sorry, that was rude to call you a jack ***. you know your music if your referring to the main and not sub genres.

5. if you don't know about this site then you'll will now love me forever. Rave Archive - DJ Mixtapes, Party Flyers, Scene Zines, Forums
I do think that now tech house is considered a genre by many of the new kids these days, and I accept that, I personally always know it is as a style of mixing, but some times I wish people took the time to learn their roots. these guys in my city who proclaim they are tech house dj's play this horrible go no where bouncy house, its turned it into a quiet joke, to the head's.

IMHO that site is pretty far off when it comes to the house side of things, and it is missing quiet a bit of vital information, the reason this is because the guy who made this never was into good house music, or techno for that matter, he was a candy raver into the hard ravy shit, and if you where around back than you would know what those candy kids where about. its not fair to make a timeline of a bunch of music he really doesnt like, its make it irrelevant.

sub genres are pretty much useless to me, especialy now a days! if someone were to ask me to describe my sound, Id say I play deep, dark, druggy techno with industrial sounds, so to a record shop and ask where that sections is....lol its pointless, sub genres to me is a persons opinion of how something sounds, and everyone seems to feel differently. so what ever......imo theres good music and bad. the sub gernes will keep changing, with there will always be good or bad electronic music //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

anyways, ive always been info more of the deeper sophisticated sounds if you may. the stuff from detroit, new york, and later into some of the sounds the guys in europe have been making, guys like underground resistance, robert hood, adam beyer, tom clark, 3 chairs, ect ect. Ive brought in some pretty cool act to Vancouver, and continue to be the only one here that is keeping the underground scene alive.

heres some of my tracks and mixes

oh ant btw, I dont know everything there is to know about house and techno, and I learning new things everyday, but defiantly not from websites or one guys opinion of how it all began, I learn my knowledge from listing to the music, looking thew discography's, and reading up about the guys I look up to and consider influential.

Wow, sounds like electronic music in your area is the same just about everywhere else... dead!. Yeah, it sucks!. Since federal and local authorities came down on the scene with the R.A.V.E act of 1999 its never been the same. As a promoter I lost my interest to pull of events due to the risk of getting hit with the CRACK HOUSE LAW. So I wasn't surprised to see MOST of the heads slowly drop out. I did club promotions for a while and that got old and so did I.

I did however get a chance to experience the new wave of music that hit LA, NY, Chicago in the club scene... Electro, synth pop, what ever you want to call it. My brother in law is one of the biggest club promoters in Chicago so I would visit on the regular and see people like Justice, Bloody beat roots, Ficher spooner ect.. and it was awesome. Since then I've really fallen off the party world.

If you are ever in the city check out Dark wave disco.

Thanks for the link. I'll check out your tunes.

Did you get a chance to go to the rave archive? It's a real nostalgic trip if your familiar with a lot of those artist.
