just thought i share some thoughts on my new setup. Mainly the amp since i seen alot of people wondering if the new line is as good as the older discus model
Sundown SA-12:
of this everyone knows this thing is a beast. hits lows very well and plenty loud for one 12. good structure and build quality. still less than 3 hours of play time so its not fully broken in yet.
Mb quart 1500d:
now i was kind of iffy at first too but for less than 200, this things pushes the hell out of the sa12. i have it at 1-2 o clock on the gain and it doesnt get hot or overheat or anything and still have plenty to give. very comparable for hifionics 1610d but with more power. As for SQ, sounds better than hifonics.
Cons:
none really. overall very happy with everything and pricing. sounds pretty much the same as my prior setup (two 10'' type R sealed) except hits alot lower. my box is ported and tuned to 32hz @ 1.75cu. i may try a sealed enclosure as i do prefer the sq of a sealed.
Summary:
sundown gets my vote and #1 choice and i will continue to use their products.
mb quart is also still very good stuff but there is better with slightly more money. very good budget amp for those not looking for over the top bass.
I will get a video if anybody is interested once my new deck and speakers come in. amp rack and fiberglass enclosure will most likely be built. not feeling the size of the ported box. Any thoughts of running in sealed? a no no? or will it be ok and not suffocate the sub?
critics and comments welcomed. thanks for looking!
