this is my first crossover/filter i have built...i know it aint the best....therefore, i welcome any and all criticisms...so i can know how to improve next time...

mainly, i am just wondering if i positioned the coils correctly? i know they are supposed to be at different angles, but i dont know if this means one should be lying down or if they should be both side by side or if it is fine the way it is...

somebody clue me in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thanks

I don't know anything about crossovers, So I'll voice my opinion... lol

But I would either get a breadboard or something like a piece of 1/4"-1/2" thick wood with some holes drilled in it for the wires and put them on the bottom, while keeping the components on the top. Just to give it a nicer cleaner appearance.

x10 dude

get a piece of balsa wood or hell - even cardboard and lay out all the components on them and poke the wires thru the wood\board\ect and then label everything on the backside, and then wire it all up and trim it all down - as far as orientation? whatever fits works as long as wires arent crossed\touching where they arent supposed to.

i just hate ugly electronics - thats why tube amps disgust me sometimes :'(

hahaha

edit: haha is not a post, but it was funny...

im gonna do some coil experimentation with the second crossover while listening to music...illl post what i learn //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you want the coils placed 90 degrees apart (ie, 1 coil facing the x direction, 1 in the y direction and 1 in the z). that way the magnetic fields generated will be perpendicular to each other, and no mutual inductance will be induced.

thanks jrz, thats what i wanted to know...the way i have it now should be fine...looking at it two dimensionally, one is perpendicular to the x axis and the other is perp to the y axis, so methinks i will be ok...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
