First Fiberglass Enclosure worklog *PICS* + questions on door panels

The panels in my car are cracked, but i could probably still work off of them. Would it be better to make a baffle in the current door panels and work from there or to trace the outline onto say 1/4" plywood and use that as backing and make a baffle off of that. Is this making sense? IE: make plywood base that will hook into where teh other speaker cover goes and suspend baffle onto that then stretch cloth from baffle to the edges of the plywood and fiberglass that? Also, since im going to be making new speaker pods, should they be sealed or infinite baffle and what kind of speaker would you recomend (6x9 is stock in this car)thanks!

Adam
If your making custom speaker pods for your doors then buy a set of comps or good 6.5" coaxials. Round speakers are usually better than oval shaped speakers. And I don't think it makes a big difference in what type/how big the enclosure is, it might depend on what speakers. Alpine sealed their type r speakers in their show car so that's what I did with my typre r's.

UPDATE!

I tore the fleece off because of my lack of volume and fiberglassed on an extension to the base. This should kill 2 birds with one stone. It should help to stabalize the enclosure and give the extra volume i need. here is a pic of the addition.

feedback on this fix would be great!

I'm glad you said it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'd rather fix it now than have a box i wasnt happy with!

Ok so i refleeced the box with the extension added. Looks like enough airspace this time. I layed the first layer of glass down and hopefully the rest tommarow. Here are pics:

In the car (like the fabric? $2 a yard at walmart):

Why not make the base even larger, like incorporate that entire side trunk panel area. It looks abit odd how the shape is, its like its just "popping" out. By making a larger base, the flow of the curves is much better and more asthetically pleasing to the eye.

This enclosure gives me adequate space for my sub. Fiberglass is too expensive to start over and make it larger. Plus I like that it accentuates that there is a sub there and takes less trunk space. If i did it again i would probably make the base go further, but to me this looks good, works well, and leaves me with space in the trunk.

Dude you should really keep the whole flower pattern going Fiber glass on the inside and just do a quick polish on the outside //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
