first experience fiberglassing

im finding the hardest part is getting the surface flat and as round as possible. after each coat of bondo i would have little craters, so there is alot of sanding, and dont expect to get it done in 2 days. just have to take your time

ya, i used the rage gold and got some craters. maybe cause im not to sure how to work with it. but filled it in with some stuff for little holes like that, i forget what it is. my uncle is teaching me so he gives me the stuff i need and i do it

For the little craters, theres a litle tube of putty usually side right beisde bondo called spot and glazing putty, it cures really fast and sands really easy and is specifically for the little pin holes.

Only costs a few dollars and comes in a toothpaste lookin tube

even though its not car audio i thought it was worthy of putting up. these are pods for gauges in my truck...

Not bad my man, not bad at all. This picture worries me a little though. Looks like you have some warpage. Or is the a pillar curved like that ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

aight cool. Did you wrap the entire pillar in glass? You don't really need to for just making pods like you made //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Scuff the pee pee out of the plastic before hand. I use 36 grit roloc pads on the da. Drill a few little holes around the area to create some "teeth" and you get something like this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I was just sittin here thinkin about Fiber glassin my rear deck with a set of RSDs back there..how long did it take?? i really think i can do this
If you need some help, I have a little experience with fiberglass/body work. I'm sure we could get it looking nice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'll be doing alot of glassing on my car if I ever get the money up. Hard times right now though.

Anyway, OP, nice work on the pods. Would never guess it was your first time. It really isnt that difficult if you know the techniques and stuff though. Patience is your friend when working with glass/fillers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Paint looks a little rough but other then that nice job for your first. Now that you know how to do it you'll be creating all kinds of stuff:)
i was wondering if someone was gunna notice that. actually i wanted that, i sprayed some chip gaurd on before, i wanted to get some texture because the pillar is textured. didnt want a rough pillar and smooth pods //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
