first competition need advice

okay so im going to try out a bass race, my current setup is an fi btl n2 powered by a aq2200 at 1ohm, all 0 gauge and a kinetic 1200 as a second battery. My box is a 5 cube box tuned to 31hz. Im a little worried about my tunning because my one buddys 15 on a 1000 watt amp seems much louder then me but hes tunned to 42hz. If i retune my box in the 40s would that give me a dieing chance at this comp?

Higher tuning would be better because you can create more sound pressure with a 40hz tone that you can with a 30hz tone, all other things being equal.

Typically if you're going strictly for numbers, you would tend to tune higher than what you're currently at. Somewhere around the resonant frequency of your vehicle.

Are you doing bass race? Or you calling a spl contest bass race? If it is db drag bass race you will be find as long as you can do more then 129.9 cause it is not all out just the closest to that score without going over....bass race is 119.9, 129.9, 139.9,149.9,159.9 classes

For a 4 door sedan @ the headrest (MECA) try tuning around 37 -43hz

lol sounds like my wires focus, if you freeze it out, it gains on the meter in there. but my blazer on the other hand if its cold it hurts and to hot it hurts.... has to be like right in the middle lol.
