first box

Just depends on what you want... tight punchy bass do sealed... You want deep carrying base do ported... depends on your application.... the best way to do ported is use aeros or PVC pipe.. start with it long whicdh should give you jigher base and keep cutting it shorter and shorter until you get the sound you like... Just make sure you get it sealed good.. measure twice cut once and liquid nails the inside... If you do sealed and your tight for space you can always use polyfill and it will essentially trick the speaker intot hinking its in a bigger box and help performance wise

pvc ports are no better than a slot port... the only benefit of an aero is the flares at the end reducing air turbulence at the openings of the port. also, use titebond II wood glue not that liquid nails ****. i bet you will like those subs in ported

Please don't listen to this guy, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

And Type R's are useless unless ported IMO, and yeah, I've owned them and ran them in both sealed and ported boxes.

Yea this guy is retarded slot port is easier to build and work with(I have built many of each so i kno). And yea x2 on ported sealed ftl :-(

Where would be best to put the port? Like on one side, or in the middle of them both?
The first box I ever build was for two 12" R's and it was like 5 cubes tuned to 32hz and it hit pretty dang hard. I had both the subs and port rearfiring, with the port between them.
