I was tired of all the buzzes and rattles of my doors even after deadening. So I decided to try my hand at a pair of kick pods for my mids. This was my first time using fiberglass so I was a bit skeptical.

Sorry for the crappy pics (cell phone).

Kick panel molding removed and taped out

Finished mold

Speaker ring attached

Ring covered and resined. This material was a thin slightly stretchy synthetic that I hoped would work well. Unfortunately the material didnt stretch too well in all directions, which led to some problems later on.

The pods were not completely smooth by any means, but they are good enough for me. The location that they are in doesn't warrant such attention to detail.

I had some extra time so I decided to build a box for my Eclipse Alum. I was tired of having 8 cubic ft. boxes taking up my whole back hatch, so I decided to downsize.

I decided to go with 1.5 cubes @ 28hz. Using an external port.

The routered out port flare on the inside of the box.

Box done.

Fits snuggly

Port attached.

I will probly paint/cover the box later on, but for now I'm happy just to have my trunk back.

You are gonna beat the F U C K outta that drivers side. I bet you end up remaking it with much less of an angle towards you

Thats exactly all up in the area my left foot goes, I would break that first day

Nah its not bad Ive had them installed for a while....my left foot stays tucked in kinda straight up and down when I drive. If I had a 5speed it would def be a "no no" then ha

This is in an older qx4 or pathfinder isnt it, looks very close to mine, assuming I just have the next generation. Rear panels and center console look close

Now I know I would DEFINETELY kill those pods with my big feet lol

how's them mids sound? im thinkin about doin something like that in my next install
They are much better now. Very punchy, without all the buzzes as before. Drums sound great now

I filled the pods with fiberfill, which may have helped the sound.

'98 4runner, similar cars tho.

awesome dude. Terrible place to put them though
Yeah it was kinda tricky finding a place to mount them. I didnt want to cut/drill into any of the factory panels. So that is the place I decided. Luckily its not as bad as I was expecting as leg room goes.
