Firing up or Down??????????????

I have a 2002 gmc sierra extended cab truck. I was planning on putting in a 12 IDMAX sub and I was wondering would it sound better facing up or down?? I don't think I will have enough room to port the box do you guys think it will still sound good in a sealed box??

It will sound great in a sealed box like most woofers do, it just will not get as loud as ported. IF you are short on space then sealed is the way to go. As far as which would sound better, up vs down, you would either have to experiment or find someone on here who has tried this before. Either way will probably not make a huge difference.

if i wanted to keep the back seats, you could take them out, fabricate your box- firing forward or downward (underneath) and find some way to put the coushins back onto the top sections of the box, and wrap the part of the box you can see with vynl.

i would fire them downward personally. that way noone can see them\steal them, and you get to keep the seat and never be nervous about people kicking them.

I just recently got rid of a 2002 Chevy Ext cab Z71. I had two 10s firing down and it sounded awesome! However, sorry I can't really say if it would've sounded better firing up. Firing down definitely satisfied me.
