Finishing a custom fiberglass HU holder

At first i thought of painting the thing but its kinda being a ***** because of where it is anyway any alternatives to paint? do you think carpet would work in a glovebox?

I kinda messed up since its my first time using Fiberglass and I tried to fill it with a rubbery based sealent (I know, I know I **** at this) and now the molding is all gunked up
