hey guys.

im searching around for a new single 18" sub

that can be wired to 1 ohm and take power from my

new hifonics brutus ( black case ) 1200 amp.

amp states suposed to give off 450@1 / 900@2 / 1200@1

wether it actually does or not is questionable .

im guessing it will put off a steady 900+ at 1ohm

so if I was going to order up one of theese ( ssd18 )

https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=1548248ae3ca928/shopdata/0030_SSD/product_overview.shopscript

what would I check on the list of options ? obvisuly I need the dual 2 ohm

but what about the other options ?

and if you guys can recomend me a better sub to get than that one,

that is still a good value per dollar spent - please do - post up a link to it.

im trying to keep the budget under $300 or so.

check the classifieds on her as well there is an 18 inch FI Q that would fit nicely. New they can be had 4 around 300. The SSD is a great sub for the money. With more than the recommended 800 RMS I would at least do the flatwound coil. It can increase handling by dissipating some heat that the coil sees. The BP option offers cooling to greatly improve power handling, with BP option an SSD can handle closer to 1200 watts daily

im all about cooling off the motors.

so Im probly gona want the flat wind option (+20$)

and also add the bp option (+40$)

- brings the fi ssd 18" sub up to $299 shipped to my house ?

not bad price? or ok price ? keep looking? or go out on a limb and buy used on the fourm

and risk getting a sub some one beat to death already?

I definatly want a 18" sub. the one I have already is going back in my dj cabnet

haha - and the box I made for the 18" size sub absolutely fits my car like a glove and

sounds great. its ported up at the rear - and uses the glass hatchback as a extension of the port like a folded horn does. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The Q may be worth the extra money depending on what you like. The Q can handle more power and will sound a little more crisp. I ran a single Q 12 ported and loved it. The SSD with all the options is close to the price of a Q. You cant go wrong with either, Great subs and great company. I have owned a Q and a BL. As for buying used I have done it quite a bit with good luck, but there isnt any substitute for a warranty.
