well i just went with that i have been looking at for a while now and figured i would give them a try, if i dont like them i will sell them but i am sure i will like them since its my first ever aftermarket speakers and i will amp them

so what test tone do i use

Upping your own thread multiple times a day is a waste of bandwith. If you really want to use a dmm, 200hz would be fine, but setting by ear is all you need to do if you know what distortion sounds like.

well i dont really exactly know when the distortion kicks in

If you can hear, you will be able to tell when they start to distort, trust yourself. You can always use a dmm as a starting point though.

thats what i want to use so i dont have no chance of blowing them

the polk are rated for 120rms and my amp does 175rms so i dont want to over power them thats why i was gonna use a dmm to set the gains, wats a good wattage i should throw at them

175 watts would be a good start.

You have a zx850.4? What are you using the other two channels for? You can bridge it, which will give you a ton of power on tap, all of which you don't need to use, but it's nice to have headroom. In that case, set it around 250 watts.
