Filling gaps for running power wire?

ok so i have ran my + and - runs of 0 gauge underneath my car and i drilled holes in my trunk floor........ so my question is what do you guys use to fill these holes so water doesn't come in and to protect it from getting cut up and grounding out?

Edit: What did you use to strap the wire down to the undercarriage?

silicone=works ok

stuff paper in the hole=fire

Yep, same exact stuff. Just mask off any areas you don't want the foam to be, and trim it all up when it's dried.

what if i dont have a grommet? i have wire ran through already and it already has been crimped........ do you think "great stuff" alone will do the trick? i did file the edges of the holes so it isnt very sharp at all any more

It would be best to get the edges taken care of, because there's always a chance of the wire moving around and grounding out. Best bet would be to get a grommet, and since the wires are already ran, cut the grommet, open it around the wires, and then put it in. Then shoot it with foam to cover the gaps so no water or anything will get in from the underside.

you should of done some research first and bought the grommet. when doing something like this it will pay in the end to do it the right way. just buy the grommet.

that's where i got mine. any grommet will work too. it's not vehicle specific.

also make sure its the proper size as well of course. they might even sell them at like home depot or something in the electrical dept. i could be wrong though. heres one from PE

I buy these off parts express. The other advantage with these is they'll also clamp the wire in place to prevent it from moving.

If I were you I'd cut the crimp to pull the wire back through the trunk with the grommet. Crimps aren't that expensive. Possibly cutting your wire and grounding out = possible massive costs.
