Fighting with Nissan North America (Altima owners beware/read)

not me, cjj2d. I believe Murfreesboro is in Tennesse.
I'm in GA near Florida.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
Indeed it is. I know because I live there.

I put Nashville as most folks have no idea where the 'boro is. (It's a suburb about 20 miles from Nashville)

Nissan North America has relocated to Cool Springs. Have you gone there yet? Most of their warranty claims work in the Primus building right now.

I'll see If I can't get someones name that you can talk to at work tomorrow. We've had about 10 people that have transferred in that have spouses that work at Nissan.

I don't know about Nissan anymore...

My mom has a Murano and has had nothing but problems with it...

Plus the dealers are NOT very willing to help... Go figure you spend 40 grand with them and they don't give a shit. She is trading it in on a BMW, at least they have service...

lexus has the most amazing service i've seen yet. i'd buy one based on that alone.
THey are OK...

THey have good service but the Lexus guys my brother takes his IS too are kind of dumb. They miss obvious problems and replace stuff that doesn't need fixed. For example, he had a caliper sticking and so they replaced almost everything in the traction control system. What fixed it was when they put new brakes on it... Go figure... Didn't cost him anything so I guess it doesn't make much difference...

Oh well, they still do a better job than the Nissan guys...

my mom has a 2001 maxima.. no problems.. i know its not an altima from 02 on up .. but still same company.. and no problems

except that when my sisters friends try to close the door with htire butts. it leaves dents haha

we have 2 butt dents

I had a Sentra SpecV with the 2.5 and it had the same oil consumption problems. They replaced the entire engine...then it started happening again. Then the fight started. "we already replaced it once" Not to mention the 100 other things that kept going wrong. After months of fighting they replaced the second engine. Now everyone knows these engines have a problem with the catalytic dust ******* back into the engine so I told the Nissan dealer that I would buy the Nismo off-road header (without the pre cat) if they'd install it when installing the engine... and the MOFO behind the counter looks at me and says " I can but that will void your warranty"

Ummm, lets think about this...I'm willing to PAY, way too much I might add, for a product that will keep you from having to replace MY engine again...and you want to void my warranty?

When it ran, it was a great car. But it spent more time in the shop than in my driveway. At initial glance Nissan makes some nice cars. They look good, handle good, great HP and torque but after my experience and reading all the other horror stories on the net I'll never own another one. Period.

Think that could be the problem with my 2000 Nissan Sentra?
I'll be driving, and decelerate to a stop and the engine will just stop... shut off.

It'll start right back up... but it happens daily... sometime multiple times.

Mine did that too. You'd push in the clutch and coast to a stoplight and have to watch the tach and give it gas so it didn't die sometimes. Even if it didn't die the tach would drop to near 0 each time and the engine would shudder for a second like it was going to die. POS I tell ya.

I'm glad I read this I was gonna by me a Altima 6spd Coupe...but I'm staying away from them now....
Only applies to Altimas with the QR25DE 4 cyl engine. Sentra SE-R and SE-R SpecV owners are in the same boat. I got a new engine under warranty at 50,800 miles due to this...

the oil consumption and the cat are unrelated. i work for a nissan dealer and there is a recall/campaign for oil consumption on the QR25 altima. the crank sensor/cat problem is unrelated although still a problem. what state are you in? i'm actually about to head out to dinner with the nissan parts/service district rep for arkansas/tennessee/mississippi.
The precat failure involves the substrate material in the precat being sucked back int the combustion chamber, scoring the cylinder walls and leading to leaking and excessive oil consumption.

No. See posts above. Only QR25 Sentras/Altimas.

I'm pretty sure the light read the code P0420 which is and has been common with nissans since the mid 90s.
Personally, I call it the dummy light. Nissan of course will suggest you change the entire pre-cat section and thats some expensive sh!t.
my qg18de sentra keeps giving me the same code.

luckily i am still covered under warranty, now i just need to find a day when i dont need the car so they can fix it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

and i only have like 6k miles left on the warranty.
