Fiberglassing....

orphe. how'd u make that? just a bunch of wood rings stacked together the glassed over or what did u use for your base shape?
I used the tweeter mount, paper (3x5 card) and tape for the shape.

1 layer of resin.

2 layers of glass.

2 thin layers of bondo

Sand

2 layers of textured paint

yeah thats also what i was thinking. for the 6.5's i found some 6" pvc too.
Tweeters are generally sealed chamber so PVC is fine, but woofers/midbass are not. Cylinders are terrible boxes for unsealed speakers because of the way the back wave reflects. You would want to put some sort of object behind the speaker to "randomize" the back wave reflection if you used PVC, such as a large (wide) "spike..." or by having it open into a larger, non-cylindrical area. If it opened into the door, that would be fine, but make sure it doesn't leak back out of the door panel in other spots because that would ruin the efficiency of the system. The back wave needs to be sealed from the front wave. Meaning the back of the speaker needs to be sealed from the front of the speaker. If you mount a speaker in the regular spot in the door, you have to seal off the holes in the door with something rigid to get optimal sound. It will lower distortion, raise efficiency (particularly in the bass) and raise your maximum output to do so.

yeah i was going to just use the pvc as the main part then put a wood box or something in back. they r stock speakers that I'm just splicing in until i get another pair of comps
